LOOK OUT FOR FAKE YOWIES
Fake Yowies
There are opportunists out to get your dollars by airbrushing and painting yowies
into ones you've never seen before! Apparently they have even been dipping them
into solvent and calling them transparent. We've been told that most have
originated from WA and Geelong (Victoria). Unfortunately some collectors have been
tricked into paying inflated prices because of this deception. Remember this first
series of Yowies has been out for sometime and there are around 30 million of them
in Australia. This is more than enough of a market to establish 99% of variations.
Refer to our variations list, and use your good judgement, and you should be okay.
Not all Yowies below are in stock. As a collectable, the Yowies must come with

After a relatively good fake-free period, a number of disturbing Yowie counterfeits are doing the rounds. Most noticeably are the Bearded Koala (check fake) and the Major Mitchell Cockatoo with the all pink behind. Several collectors have reported a number of these being sold in Queensland. The fake Bearded Koala which we have scanned (courtesy of the unlucky collector) has an almost lilac paint finish. The old solvent trick has been used on the behinds of the MMC - the scan wasn't good enough to show but generally the solvent will leave tiny specks of grey paint in the indents of the plastic. The fake also can seem a tad dirty. As always, be very careful when buying or trading. The golden rule is that only buy or trade from those who will solve any problems after the sale is complete.
