Change of contact details
Its been a crazy few weeks. Let me quickly update you. Firstly two weeks ago we had a break in at our store - and yes the computer was stolen. All
that was left was the monitor. Needless to say I had little backed up. Just taken delivery of the new computer and have begun the process of
reconstructing as much as possible. I have been unable to answer emails for the last 2 weeks. The email should be up and running within 24 hours so if you have
emailed in the last 2 weeks then please resend as from midday Tuesday or send now to rob1278@hotmail.com . Apologies for these delays, but they were unavoidable.
Our retail store, Beanie Kingdom, has now closed. We will continue to do business via the Internet & mailorder. I was unable to devote enough time to both
websites so the choice was made to concentrate on one or the other. Yowie.com will undergo many changes and I'm sure you will be delighted with what you see over
the next two months. I have an absolute ton of new yowie information to add so you will have plenty of reasons to visit here more regularly. As of yet I have yet to have
a new telephone number, I will advise that within a week. However I will attend to your email enquiries promptly.

Use By Dates
If you are chasing the new Series 6 (Yowie Adventures) you will find them in Use By Dates of 20/05/02 onwards, the boxes should also
say New Series Five and have a green sticker saying "Yowie Adventures". But remember always check the Use By Dates, regardless of what
the box says due to some outlets placing old stock in new boxes. In these boxes you will find predominately a combination of Series 6 &
the last ten of Series 5, some boxes will also contain a fair selection of some of the last lot of Series 4. The Limited Edition Mini
Yowiemen have appeared at the rate of 0,1 or 2 per box.
Lost Kingdom Series B is found in Use By Dates of the 25/03/02 onwards. About 24 of the 30 were found relatively evenly in a selection of
400 we opened. The harder ones appeared to be #1, #7, #13, #21, #30. The Glow In The Dark inserts again appeared at the rate of 0, 1 or 2
per box. In the 400 we opened we found no Skulls from Series A.
A number of the new series have as many as 10 or more pieces and some are absolutely a bugger to put together! I've had quite a few emails
saying that the Yurts in particular are nearly impossible and some have been resorting to superglue! Lets hope that closer attention is paid
to the quality side of construction of future playmates.

Series 5, 6, Lost Kingdom B
Let me take a breath! Want new Yowies? Want to find them easily without ending up with 53 Flower Spiders? Want new characters?
Well want no longer. Cadbury have served up the equivalent of a gourmet feast for collectors. Without further ado lets have
a look at what to expect.
Series Five - Last Ten
Started to appear in some April 2002 Use By Dates, still looking for an actual trigger date. Email the
Yowieman the Use By Dates you're finding these last ten and we'll pass it on to collectors.
Lost Kingdom Series B
Most boxes should have a header card indicating the prescence of Lost Kingdom B, but beware many outlets mix old stock into these.
It would appear that they will be found in Use By Dates of March 2002. Again we would welcome emails to the
Yowieman with the dates you have found them. The news here is good. Collectors report an excellent mix of Series B, more often than not 75% of
the box should contain Series B, and 2 to 3 Glow In the Darks inserts. Amazing thing, because of this great strike rate of new Yowies a number of
wholesalers and major retailers have simply sold out of Lost Kingdom B! Gee, who would have thought!
Series Six - Adventures Series
Due very very soon. Looks to the be the best thing for the Yowie hobby since the craze started in 1997. In fact with Pokemon cards on the slide, this
series may well attract 'schoolyard cred' all over again. We eagerly await pictures of this exciting series. To wet your taste buds this is the info to hand
at this stage.Interestingly one or two people on the Yowie grapevine have sets of these already, no doubt they have good connections!
6 New Yowie Sidekicks- best friends to the Yowie

Original Prototypes!!

We have come across what may possibly be the rarest Yowies seen in the collectable marketplace. From an impeccable
source, these four Yowie playmates are clearly early original prototypes - unlike the Yellow Platypus/Green Tree
Frog/Striped Possum series, which came after these. Without doubt these were samples sent to Cadbury from the
Yowie 'factory' for approval and analysis. With the exception of the Dingo, they were obviously too large. The
Green Xmas Beetle however made it into the capsules in this size, albeit for a short period. The proto beetle
was made of a completely differnt material, as the photos show. The Dingo, at first glance, looks similiar to the
fluoro variation, however it is also made of a different plastic. The Chestnut Teal and Laughing Kookaburra are
considerably larger than their regular issue versions, as well as different colourings.
These would have to be the most unique items I've come across in my time in Yowies. It is more than likely that
these would be 'one-offs', or at the best just a handful of each may exist. As such I've spent the best part
of several days taking the following photos. I hope you enjoy this little bit of Yowie History!

Lost Kingdom Series B
Yowiepower has announced the lineup for Lost Kingdom Series B, as with series A it is an impressive offering and is
rounded out by six Glow-in-the-dark inserts. It is unclear whether the series will be complete at 30 or if they're
just releasing the first thirty of fifty. I'm gathering that they will be released amongst the current Series A.
There is now indication of just when, except that they'll be here soon. To look at pics of them just go to

Other news
The last ten of Series Five have yet to appear. Let us know the Use By Date as soon as you find any. They should
start appearing from mid-April onwards. Yowiepower also announced that they have ceased inserting Series Three into
the chocolates...about time!!! It will be interesting to see if this means an increase in the number of Leafy Sea
Dragons & Waved Albatross's. Three galleries are now up, Series One, Series Two & Series Four. We're working on the
Main Variation Gallery, it will be up within a week.

Gold Yowie Winner
Here are a couple of pics of Claire's Gold Yowie, which she won in the second chance draw. Claire (Vic), by the
way, sent in 173 seperate entries, each containing an entry form and one Yowie wrapper! You could say that
Claire was beyond excited with her win! As you can see it is a beautifully presented and would be an absolute
standout in anyone's collection.

Series Five Last Ten Pics
Scroll down for pics of Series Five last ten. According to yowiepower they will be out mid April. I'm
not sure if that is mid-April for 99.99% of the population or mid-April 'Cadbury Time'! As usual as soon
as we hear that all important Use By Date we'll let you know. Our Buyboard
and Wantlist have just been updated, check them out.

Series Five Complete At Thirty
The last ten of Series Five has been announced. You can also call the Yowie Hotline 1 800 631 061
and get a free Series Five poster mailed to you. Believe it or not I got this list from the Hotline,
we've been less than kind in the past about their accuracy or relevancy, but credit where it's due -
they were on the ball today! This release may throw some doubt on the previous rumours of Series 6 &
7 and series 8. When our site went down we lost a bit of info, including that rumour. The plan was apparently
to bring out Series 6 & 7 virtually ontop of each other and then Series 8 well before the end of the year.
A new set of Crystals was also rumoured. Anyway here are the last ten of Series 5. Pictures to follow as soon
as possible.
21) Grass Owl
22) Superb Lyrebird
23) Darter
24) African Elephant
25) Hippopotamus
26) Rhinoceros Beetle
27) Mallee Fowl
28) Galapagos Tortoise
29) Giant Green Anemone
30) Caracal

Mondo Mondo Mondo.....
The popularity of Mondos as a collectable has surged dramatically in the new year. As a
result we've rushed up a gallery. It is 95% complete and shows most of the variations.
A comprehensive checklist will also appear very soon, which should be quite
helpful in identifying the 60 cards in Series One.
Gold Yowie Winners
The Gold Yowie competition is over, with the unclaimed 26 prizes being distributed via
the second chance draw. I recognised a number of long time collectors as winners -
congratulations (you deserve it!). A couple of points to close off this Yowie chapter.
Firstly to all collectors - you still have a chance to find a Gold Yowie Replica!
Naturally there is still 26 (as of 22 Dec) that are yet to be found. Although you
won't be able to claim the 9 carat piece they will still be VERY collectable, so good
luck! Secondly it has become very apparent that the promotion of the competition around
Australia has been a mini disaster - particularly as far as the 2nd chance entry forms.
Over the holidays I've had collectors visit me from all corners of the country and 9
out of 10 remarked about the abscence of any entry forms at their supermarkets - and of
any hint that the promotion was in fact, in progress! The other common complaint was
that many places were trying to flog off old stock in boxes that had the Gold Yowie
promos!! I personally checked out at least 10 supermarkets and found no 2nd chance
entry forms. They did add the entry form to their website but not everyone of course
has access to the Internet.
Site upgrade
You will see a number of additions to the legend. We're working flat out to upload
the new content. The Mondo section is nearly complete and more will follow asap. Just keep
clicking and before too long you will be able to access some exciting additions to yowie.com!

23 Gold Yowies Found but confusion over 2nd chance draw...
As of the 20th December twenty three gold yowies were discovered by lucky Yowie
collectors. Despite what yowiepower.com says the 2nd chance closed on the 16th
December 2000. They lead you to believe that you can still download a second chance
entry and try your luck, however their own official second chance entry says entries
must have been received by the 16th Dec 2000. So if you sent your entries in time then
cross your fingers and toes and wait for the announcement of the 27 odd winners.
Mondos pick up steam
After several months of settling Mondos have accelerated in popularity amongst
serious collectors. The last two weeks have seen a rush on my own stocks with
wantlists now being left with me - a sure sign of a 'hot' collectable! Within a week
yowie.com will have a Mondo gallery and checklists, so check back regularly.

SOLD.com.au becomes Yowie.com's Exclusive Auction Partner
As you can see with our new design, we have formed an alliance
with Australia's leading online auction site. If we can't help you
find a particular Yowie or Beanie, then the chances are you will
find them on SOLD.com.au.
Over the next few weeks you will see some
major content updates. New photos of every yowie & most variations,
a detailed look at Japanese Yowies, a comprehensive Mondo section, a
full update of the variation lists section, and a look at non-toxic,
scientific, green papers...in other words, we hope you will come to look
at Yowie.com as the ultimate Yowie collector resource. Any other suggestions
are welcome.

Series Three breeding in Series Five boxes!
Let's make this short and sweet. Opened 6 boxes of Oct 8 to 15 to look for Series Five - result average FIFTEEN Series Three per box and 6 to 7 Series Five each box. Then I was silly enough to try another box (from another batch) and found a lazy TWENTY-TWO Series Three! You've got to be kidding, I thought April 1st was 5 months away! And I always thought I'd never have a use for those airline sick bags I'd been collecting! (No, I don't really collect them :) Perhaps the new year will bring a new concept - a box with Yowies that collectors really want!
Lost Kingdom Variations
Just three interesting variations. I'd appreciate if you could email and let me know of other Lost Kingdom variations. Thanks to Helen K, from Laverton for the Groenlandaspis variation. We'll then list them all with pictures.
#4 Groenlandaspis Variation
#21 Murgon Bat Mutation
#45 NZ Greater Adzebill Variation

Gold Yowie Found in Melbourne!

The first gold yowie (that I know of) has been found by Leanne at Safeway in Clarinda. It's great that its been discovered by a long time Yowie collector. So you've got 6 weeks to find the other 49!
October 8 & 15 '01 continue to produce Series Five, with the later date apparently the better. Typically many supermarket and stockists are oblivious to the very short Gold Yowie promotion with old (very old) stock sitting there gathering dust. For example two large 24 hour supermarkets near me (South Yarra Coles & Safeway) have still got rubbish on the shelf.
Mondo Mondo...here's a fully fledged competitor to Yowies. If Cadbury doesn't listen to you and I, then perhaps they'll be shaken into a sense of reality by this new concept. The promotion, as many have no doubt seen, is lead by Steve Waugh. It involves a series of 30 character figurines and 60 collectable cards. They come in a box with a lollipop and sell for around $1.80. The first series covers ten periods of history, with each period represented by three figurines and six cards. Six of the thirty figurines are designated as rare. The linchpin is a brilliant interactive website - its something else. Just as Yowies used the educational slant, so do Mondo. We'll provide a comprehensive collector resource centre thru yowie.com - look for updates over the next week.
